Philips Unveils BlueSeal Horizon: The Industry's First Helium-Free 3.0T MRI Platform
A Major Technological Breakthrough
Philips, a global leader in health technology, has unveiled the BlueSeal Horizon, an entirely new 3.0T MRI innovation platform. This groundbreaking development includes the industry's first helium-free 3.0T magnet, a significant scientific achievement with far-reaching implications for healthcare providers and patients.
3.0T MRI systems are the pinnacle of MRI magnet technology, offering high-resolution imaging for research and complex clinical cases. They excel in capturing intricate bodily functions, particularly in the brain, blood vessels, muscles, and joints. Philips has been at the forefront of helium-free MRI development since 2018, having installed over 2,000 of its 1.5T BlueSeal MRI systems worldwide, saving an estimated 6 million liters of liquid helium.
Now, Philips is bringing the same benefits to 3.0T MRI, eliminating the need for helium refills and vent pipes. This innovation reduces siting complexity, installation time, and total lifecycle risk, making MRI systems more accessible and user-friendly.
"With BlueSeal Horizon, we're freeing MRI from dependence on a valuable resource the world can't replace and bringing advanced diagnostic capabilities to people previously out of reach," said Ioannis Panagiotelis, PhD, Business Leader, MR at Philips.
Next-Generation Clinical AI
The BlueSeal Horizon platform incorporates next-generation clinical AI, streamlining workflows, enhancing diagnostic precision, and expanding access to advanced imaging. Key AI-powered innovations include:
- SmartPlanning: This AI-driven feature automates time-consuming planning steps, reducing manual actions to a single click. It achieves automated planning in as little as 30 seconds, revolutionizing cardiac imaging.
- Real-time Scan Preview: Utilizing NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform and Open Models, this innovation enables faster 3D image reconstruction, denoising, and artifact reduction. Radiologists can preview scans, adjust image quality and speed parameters in real-time, and optimize workflow efficiency for more timely diagnoses.
- SmartSpeed Precise: Dual AI technology accelerates scans up to three times faster and enhances image sharpness by up to 80%, enabling clinicians to capture more detail in less time.
- SmartReading: This tool integrates cloud-based AI reading and reporting tools directly on the MR system, specifically for neurology and oncology applications, supporting confident, first-time-right diagnoses.
These innovations collectively bring advanced clinical AI to the point of care, empowering radiology teams to achieve faster, sharper, and more consistent imaging results.
