Is Cody Rhodes secretly a Dudley? That's the question buzzing in the wrestling world after some recent events. M. G0MEZ, a former sports radio anchor with a deep love for wrestling since 1985, brings a fresh perspective to the squared circle. He's got us thinking...
The opening of Cody Rhodes' entrance theme boasts of wrestling royalty. But, after witnessing Rhodes' recent actions, especially since WWE's return to live touring, it seems he might be part of another family altogether: the Dudleys.
In Newcastle upon Tyne, Rhodes lost to Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre by disqualification. McIntyre retained the title, which he had won from Rhodes the previous week in Berlin, Germany, on SmackDown.
The match took a turn when McIntyre delivered a low blow, leading to the disqualification. However, Rhodes turned the tables, literally. He sent McIntyre face-first into a steel chair wedged in the corner.
But here's where it gets controversial... Rhodes then channeled his inner D-Von Dudley, pulling a table from under the ring and dropping McIntyre with a punch. He then delivered a splash from the top rope, putting McIntyre through the table before briefly posing with the title.
This scene mirrored what happened a week earlier in Berlin, where Rhodes sent McIntyre through a table with a dive from the arena balcony. This table-smashing trend started back in December during WWE's Holiday Live Tour, where Rhodes repeatedly put McIntyre through tables in cities like Baltimore, Detroit, and Syracuse.
While Rhodes claims the last name Rhodes, his growing fondness for tables raises an intriguing possibility. Could he be a Dudley? Although he doesn't share the typical Dudley look, like taped glasses or tie-dyed shirts, his fashion sense and clear vision might come from his mother.
It's likely that Rhodes is indeed Dusty Rhodes' son. But, is his love for tables enough to warrant a DNA test to clear up any Dudley doubts? What do you think? Is this a fun coincidence, or is there more to the story? Share your thoughts in the comments!
