Dubai's media office confirmed the fire was contained and fully extinguished, emphasizing the swift response of emergency teams. The Wall Street Journal reported that a drone struck the consulate's parking lot, and social media footage showed black smoke rising near the building. Iran's state broadcaster, IRIB, claimed an Iranian drone hit the consulate, as reported by the New York Times. This incident follows a similar attack on the US embassy in Saudi Arabia by two drones on Monday, causing a limited fire and minor damage. The US embassy in Kuwait has also announced its closure until further notice. The US State Department is working to assist Americans in the Middle East, arranging charter flights, military flights, and expanded commercial flight options to facilitate their departure.
